What does
The WSSL - World SurfSkate League is an autonomous global organization whose main objective is to promote the new SurfSkate modality around the world.
After the release of the first genuine surf simulator (front truck with a flexible spring system) in 1996 by Carver Skateboards/USA, many athletes started using the equipment for functional and recreational activities.
Some even performed maneuvers that don't exist in surfing, such as the boneless. This undermines the true essence of the new surfskate modality, which aims to express the ultimate reality of surfing.
In 2014, the Brazilian SurfeSkater Rafael Azevêdo - CEO of WSSL, broke paradigms by performing high-performance maneuvers on concrete waves while riding the famous "toy surfskate," as viewed by many conservative skateboarders at the time.
Realizing that this was indeed possible, he had the brilliant idea of organizing the 1st Surfskate Championship, encouraging athletes to also express the ultimate reality of surfing.
In line with this, he also developed the Regulations and established the 4 main criteria of the new SurfSkate discipline.
