The History Of Genuine SurfSkate
Hello SurfSkater,
I conducted complex research using reliable databases and without artificial intelligence hallucinations on the earliest evidence of skateboarding worldwide up to the current state of surfskate.
Indeed, surfing has always had a significant influence on the development of various skateboarding disciplines. However, I believe that only now, through the SurfSimulator, athletes are able to express the ultimate reality of surfing on concrete.
With that in mind, I have harmonized all the information, taking into account my perceptions as an athlete of professional level and life experiences, to share with you the story of authentic surfskate. Check it out!
It is reported that the first evidence of skateboarding emerged in the mid-1940s in the United States. This was done by creative individuals who repurposed aluminum and plastic wheels used for transportation of goods to attach them to simple wooden boards, simply to experience the sensation of gliding on the ground.
However, it was only from the 1950s onwards that conventional skateboarding began to develop in a more structured manner, and it was not until the 1960s that it started gaining more popularity and being socially recognized as recreational and sports activities.
Surf culture played a key role in the rise of skateboarding. In California, some surfers began to experiment with ways to simulate surfing on concrete due to the low wave season in the region. This activity became known as sidewalk surfing or street surfing.
Nevertheless, the first skateboards were rudimentary and had a simple design, with rigid wheels attached to straight wood through fixed trucks. In this way, making it impossible for the athletes of that time to perform movements peculiar to surfing.
As athletes experimented with various skateboarding styles, they began to realize that the characteristics of the skateboard influenced their performance in different specific conditions of use. As the sport developed, there was a growing demand for lightweight and stable skateboards for Freestyle practice, longboards for Downhill, Slalom, Pool Riding, Vertical, and other modality.
In 1996, the legendary surfers from California/USA, Greg Falk and Neil Carver, started the construction of the first genuine surf simulator, that is, a flexible front truck with an efficient spring system, which definitely made it possible for contemporary athletes to express the maximum reality of surfing.
I remember that part of the surfsimulator users were enthusiasts of the surf lifestyle. Surfsimulators were also introduced in surf schools, being used as a functional tool for activities.
In general, the majority used the surfsimulator for recreational and functional purposes, while only a few actually dove into the concrete waves!
