SurfSkate Trip Around Brazil
Our first visit was to the iconic Rio Sul Bowl, located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, from Brazil. This skate park is particularly famous for its perfectly constructed lines and for hosting major national-level events.
Continuing our search, we met up with the local SurfSkate athlete from Rio de Janeiro, our friend “Mineiro,” who showed us the Snake near the Maracanã Stadium, one of the most famous football stadiums in the world.
Next, we visited Praça do O, located in the west zone, known for its beautiful beaches and considered one of the postcard attractions of the city.
We said goodbye to Rio de Janeiro and continued our journey to Santa Catarina, where we attended the South American SurfSkate Championship held at @wavegardenpdr
During the trip, Vitor Meira injured his arm and was unable to perform at his best in the championship.
From there, we returned to the city of Paraná with our friends Christian and Eliete, the couple behind ISSA SurfSkate, as they live in Curitiba and introduced us to the legendary Gaúcho Skate Park, inaugurated in 1974, being one of the first skate parks built in the bowl style in Brazil.
Satisfied and grateful to all the people from the southern regions for the warm welcome, we returned home with the feeling of being more experienced in surfskate.
Rafael Azevêdo pioneered SurfSkate and developed this new authentic modality in 2014 through hosting championships and social events in Brazil.
He built the legend StreetStyle SurfSkate Park and established the key criteria through WSSL to globally regulate the new surfskate modality.
